I spend my summer volunteering at an animal rehabilitation center in Washington, DC. During that time, I did sketches of animals and recorded funny moments and conversations that happened in the center. Base on some of these materials, I developed a series of simple drawings telling stories of orphan Mallard ducklings and an Eastern Snapping turtle who was injured by a car.
The turtle and the ducklings were kept in the same room side by side in separate tanks. They didn't have a direct relationship with each other. Somehow, at that moment in their lives, they are neighbors.
